The Sapphire Reserve's $150 StubHub Credit, and the One Day It Works Hardest

The Chase Sapphire Reserve includes up to $300 a year in StubHub and viagogo credits ($150 per half, activation required, through 2027). Stack the July-December $150 with Rakuten's one-day 12% StubHub rate on Wednesday, July 15, plus Paze's $10 checkout offer and Chase's targeted 10x-via-Paze promo, and a $200 ticket order can net out around $16.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with a StubHub credit most cardholders never activate: up to $150 in statement credits from January through June, and another $150 from July through December, for a maximum of $300 a year on StubHub and viagogo purchases. It runs through December 31, 2027, and activation is required before it works. That is Chase's wording, checked on their card page this week.

Today it works harder than any other day of the year. Rakuten's Big Deal Reveal schedule has StubHub at 12% cash back today, Wednesday, July 15, one day only. Stack the two and a $200 ticket order stops looking like $200.

The math

Line Amount
Tickets on StubHub $200
Sapphire Reserve StubHub credit (July to December portion) -$150
Rakuten 12% (Wednesday only) -$24
Net cost $26

Same order, no coupon hunting, no gift card games. Two programs that exist all the time, pointed at the same purchase on the right day.

The Paze layer: the $26 can become $16

Two more programs happen to overlap with this exact purchase right now, both through Paze, the checkout wallet the big banks run (your Chase card is likely already in it).

The $10 credit. Paze's own offer terms: spend $10 or more in a single transaction at a participating merchant between June 15 and September 10, 2026 and get a $10 statement credit, up to ten times per card. The catch is built into the terms: the offer banner has to appear inside Paze checkout. If you do not see it on the StubHub payment screen, that transaction does not qualify. Banner or nothing.

The 10x points promo. Chase is running a separate offer for some Sapphire and Freedom cardholders: 10 extra points per dollar when you check out with Paze at participating merchants, on up to $1,500 a month, through December 31, 2026. It is targeted, so check your own Chase offers before counting on it. If you have it and StubHub shows in your offer terms, $200 of tickets earns roughly 2,200 points on top of everything below.

The fully loaded version of the table:

Line Amount
Tickets on StubHub $200
Sapphire Reserve StubHub credit (July to December portion) -$150
Paze offer (if the banner shows) -$10
Rakuten 12% (Wednesday only) -$24
Net cost $16

One honest trade-off before you stack it all: cash back portals track a browsing session, and checkout wallets occasionally interrupt that. Rakuten and Paze are usually compatible since the portal handles how you arrive and Paze only handles payment, but if the $24 matters more to you than the $10, pay normally with the card. If you want the whole stack, stay in one browser session and skip any outside coupon codes.

The order of operations

  1. Activate the StubHub credit in the Chase app or site first. It is not automatic. Find it under your Sapphire Reserve benefits and hit activate. If you skip this, the $150 never posts.
  2. Open Rakuten and tap through to StubHub. The cash back only tracks if the shopping trip starts on Rakuten's side, in the same session you check out.
  3. At payment, either use the card directly or pick Paze and select the Sapphire Reserve inside it. Paze is where the $10 offer and the 10x promo live, if you have them. Check for the offer banner before you commit.
  4. Buy the tickets. The 12% is calculated on your StubHub purchase (cash back programs usually exclude taxes and fees, so expect the payout on the ticket price, not the grand total). The $150 posts later as a statement credit.

If you do not have the Sapphire Reserve

The 12% still works for everyone on Wednesday, no card requirement. $200 of tickets is $24 back, which is a solid day for concert tickets. The credit half of the stack is Reserve-only.

If you already used the credit this half

The $150 resets in halves: January to June was one pot, July to December is a fresh one. If you burned the first half in the spring, you still have the second $150 available now. If you already used the July to December portion, Wednesday is just a 12% day for you.

Does this justify the Reserve's fee by itself?

No, and we would not pretend it does. The Reserve's fee is $795, and the credit stack only pays if the credits map to spending you already do. The StubHub credit is one of the easier ones to use naturally if you buy tickets at all, and this is the one day of the year it compounds with a 10-plus percent portal rate. What is viagogo?

StubHub's international sister marketplace. Chase's credit language covers both, so the $150 works on either platform.
