Two things Samsung has not published yet: the annual fee and the interest rates. We're not going to guess at them. You'll see the real pricing in the Cardmember Agreement when you apply, and that pricing changes the math below, so check it before you sign up.
Spend $2,000 in 90 days, get $200 back. That's a 10% return on the spend that earns it, before you count the category rewards on top.
The catch built into this card is that it's easiest to hit the $2,000 by buying Samsung gear. Say you pick up a new Galaxy phone directly from Samsung for around $1,000. That single purchase earns 5% ($50 in cash rewards) and knocks out half the spend requirement in one shot. Add a tablet, a watch, or an appliance and you've cleared the $2,000 and pocketed the $200.
The three earn rates are all tied to Samsung's own ecosystem:
Samsung listed those three categories and nothing else. It hasn't stated a base rate for regular, everyday spending that falls outside them, so treat this as a card built for Samsung purchases, not a catch-all you put everything on.
This is our take, based on the rewards Samsung confirmed.
Good fit if you're already a Samsung person. You carry a Galaxy phone, you pay with Samsung Wallet, and you buy Samsung hardware directly every couple of years. For you, the 5% and 3% are real, recurring money, and the $200 bonus is close to free.
Great timing if you're about to buy a Galaxy device. A new phone or TV at launch lets you stack the 5% category reward and most of the $200 welcome bonus onto one purchase you were making anyway. That's the single best reason to grab this card.
Fine as a streaming sidecar. If you're already in for the card, 2% back on Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify is a small, steady bonus.
iPhone users. No Samsung Wallet means the 3% rate is dead to you, and half the card's pitch is gone. The 5% only helps when you're buying from Samsung directly.
People who don't buy Samsung. The whole edge here is locked to Samsung purchases. If you're not buying their phones, TVs, or appliances, there's not much left.
Anyone wanting one card for everything. Samsung hasn't disclosed a rewards rate on general spending, so this isn't the card to run your groceries and gas through. A flat cash-back card does that job better until Samsung says otherwise.
If you're inside the Samsung ecosystem and buying a device soon, the $200 bonus plus 5% back is a genuinely good deal, and it's worth a look the day applications open. If you're not a Samsung buyer, or you're on iPhone, this card's rewards mostly aren't aimed at you. Either way, wait to see the annual fee and interest rate in the Cardmember Agreement before you decide, because Samsung hasn't put those numbers on the table yet.
