Rakuten's Big Deal Reveal for Wednesday, September 2 puts Kate Spade Outlet at 26% cash back for one day, up from an everyday 5%. A $100 order pays $26 back, which Bilt Silver, Gold and Platinum members convert to 2,600 Bilt Points on the next quarterly payout. The exclusions, the click-through rule, and why your Bilt status on the payout date is the one that counts.
Rakuten's Wednesday drop for September 2 is Kate Spade Outlet at 26% cash back, announced in Rakuten's own email and on its September Big Deal calendar. The everyday rate on the same store was 5% on Tuesday afternoon, marked "was 2%," so Wednesday pays roughly five times the normal rate, for one day. Rakuten's own description of the Big Deal Reveal series: "Each offer is available for one day only."
Here is what the 26% actually pays, who gets more than 26% out of it, and the two places people lose the cash back.
The store on Rakuten is listed as kate spade outlet at rakuten.com/surprise.katespade.com. The base page shows "5% Cash Back, was 2%." The September Big Deal calendar on Rakuten's site reads "9/2 kate spade outlet 26%."
Rakuten does not publish a start time, an end time, or a timezone for the drop. The only duration language anywhere on its site is "one day only." So the practical rule: if the merchant page shows 26% when you click through, you are in the window. If it shows 5%, you are not.
The exclusions, complete and verbatim from the store page: "Cash Back is not available on the purchase of Hello Kitty items, select SKUs, gift cards, employee purchases, and orders of 10+ items." There is no coupon-code restriction on the page, which matters below. Posting is fast for Rakuten: "Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account today." No in-store offer is listed for this store, on the merchant page or on Rakuten's in-store hub.
The other half of the stack is on the merchant's side, and it covers Wednesday. Kate Spade Outlet's Labor Day promotion, from its own promo-terms page: "Enjoy an extra 20% off select styles" and "Enjoy $25 off your order of $150 or more," each "valid online only at katespadeoutlet.com from 8/31/2026 through 9/8/2026 at 11:59 pm pt," each "not valid for purchase of gift cards or full-price styles," and each applied automatically at checkout with no code. Shipping is free on U.S. orders over $50.
Two cautions from the same pages. The 20% is genuinely select styles, not sitewide: on the sale listing some items carry the extra 20% badge and some carry only the $25-off badge. And the site never says in words that the 20% and the $25 off combine on one order, so do not plan on both. The Rakuten 26% is separate from all of this. It is paid by Rakuten on the purchase, so it sits on top of whatever the merchant discount leaves.

The Bilt column is the part most people miss, and the unit matters. Bilt's help page: "Blue members: 50 points per $1 in Rakuten cash-back" and "Silver, Gold, and Platinum members: 100 points per $1 in cash-back." That is per dollar of cash back, not per dollar spent. A $100 bag earns $26 of cash back, and at Silver, Gold or Platinum that $26 becomes 2,600 Bilt Points. Read as points per dollar spent, this is a 26x earn on a handbag, which is why this deal is worth a post at all.
Whatever card you pay with keeps earning on top. Rakuten sits in the middle of the purchase and does not touch what the card pays.
Rakuten pays the 26% no matter what card you use, so the card decision is only about what stacks on top. Two things to look at, in this order.
Check your card-linked offers before you shop. Amex Offers, Chase Offers and Citi Merchant Offers sometimes carry a Kate Spade or Kate Spade Outlet deal, and those are card-side, so they stack with Rakuten. They are targeted, which means we cannot see yours. Open the offers tab on each card you hold, search the brand, and add anything that appears before you click through from Rakuten.
No offer? Use a flat-rate card. A card that pays the same everywhere adds a clean layer with no category to argue about. From our card data, the Citi Double Cash and the Wells Fargo Active Cash both pay 2% back on every purchase with no annual fee. On the $100 bag that is another $2, on top of the $26 from Rakuten. Small next to the portal, but free.
Not this month. Bilt and Rakuten both state the schedule: "Your confirmed Cash Back will be sent as Bilt Points every three months, according to the Rakuten payment schedule," on February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15. Two more conditions from the same pages: you need "minimum confirmed earnings of $5.01 before the next payment date," and cash back "typically takes 3 to 14 weeks to be confirmed."
One line in Bilt's terms decides your rate, and it is not the one you would guess: "your conversion rate depends on your Elite Status at the time of your payout date." Status at purchase is irrelevant. If you are Blue today and reach Silver before the payout, the whole batch converts at 100 per dollar. If you are Silver today and drop, it converts at 50. Aim your status at the payout date, not at the checkout.
Ordering more than nine items. "Orders of 10+ items" is on the exclusion list. Split a big order into two.
Not clicking through first. Rakuten only tracks a purchase that starts from its site, extension or app. Open Rakuten, confirm the store page shows 26%, click Shop Now, then shop. If you already have a cart open on the Kate Spade site from earlier, close it and start again from Rakuten.
Rakuten's referral offer pays new members $50 after $50 of qualifying spend within 90 days. On this store, that is one bag. At Silver, Gold or Platinum on Bilt, that $50 is another 5,000 Bilt Points on the same quarterly payout.
