JetBlue gives every Mosaic level free space-available BlueFirst upgrades and a companion, plus Premier cardmembers who pay with the card. Rules and start date.

Read October 23, 2026 on JetBlue's own pages: its TrueBlue upgrade rules, its 2027 changes page, its BlueFirst page and its newsroom releases of October 15 and 22. Facts are as of October 23, 2026.
JetBlue's October 22 release opens with a first: "For the first time, members at every Mosaic level, and up to one traveling companion on the same reservation, will be eligible for complimentary, space-available upgrades to BlueFirst."
BlueFirst is JetBlue's new domestic first class, wide recliner seats two by two, and its first flight is December 8. Most people will read the release as a perk for the top tier. It covers all four Mosaic levels, and JetBlue Premier cardmembers without status too.
TL;DR
- Every Mosaic level, 1 through 4, gets free space-available upgrades to BlueFirst, plus one companion on the same reservation when two seats are open.
- JetBlue Premier cardmembers without Mosaic status qualify too, if they pay for the flight with the Premier card. They're last in line, after Mosaic 1.
- Upgrades clear from 60 minutes before departure. You're added to the list automatically at check-in.
- Base fares don't qualify. Main Base and EvenMore Base are out, and so are Mint flights and partner flights. Award and Cash + Points bookings do qualify.
- The start date depends on which JetBlue page you read. The release says February 1, 2027; JetBlue's FAQ says upgrades begin "with the arrival of our first BlueFirst-equipped aircraft." BlueFirst's first flight is Boston to Fort Lauderdale on December 8, 2026.
Who gets upgraded, in order
JetBlue's upgrade rules page lists the order:
| Place on the list |
Who |
| 1 |
Mosaic 4 |
| 2 |
Mosaic 3 |
| 3 |
Mosaic 2 |
| 4 |
Mosaic 1 |
| 5 |
JetBlue Premier cardmembers without Mosaic status |

Within each group, paying with a JetBlue credit card puts you ahead, then buying an EvenMore fare (not EvenMore Base), then the Tiles you've earned this year. Other JetBlue cards "don't make you eligible on their own," JetBlue says, but they move an eligible Mosaic member up the list.
The Premier card rule, from JetBlue's terms: cardmembers without status, "including authorized users, are eligible only when they use their JetBlue Premier Card as the form of payment for the base fare of the itinerary."
How it works on the day
- Automatic. "Eligible members are added to the upgrade list automatically at check-in," and upgrades "begin to clear, in upgrade list order, beginning sixty (60) minutes before departure."
- The companion needs a second seat. "For both you and your companion to receive an upgrade, there will need to be two open seats in BlueFirst when upgrades start to clear." A reservation with three or more travelers isn't eligible.
- You get the seat, not the ground perks. Upgraded customers "receive the BlueFirst seat and any onboard service," but "dedicated check-in and an increased baggage allowance, are not included."
- No points, cash or certificates. JetBlue's page: "No points, cash or certificates required."
What doesn't qualify
From JetBlue's terms:
- Base fares. "Main Base and EvenMore® Base fares are not eligible, regardless of Mosaic level."
- Mint and partners. Upgrades are only on "JetBlue-operated flights on aircraft configured with BlueFirst," not on flights with Mint or on partner-operated flights.
- Partner status. "United MileagePlus® Premier status and status with other partner programs do not qualify."
What does qualify: published Main, Main Flex, EvenMore and EvenMore Flex fares, "including those booked with TrueBlue points or a combination of cash and points."
When it starts
JetBlue's pages disagree on the date:
- The October 22 release: the TrueBlue expansion begins "February 1, 2027, including complimentary, space-available BlueFirst upgrades."
- JetBlue's 2027 changes FAQ: "Most changes take effect February 1, 2027. ... Complimentary space-available upgrades to BlueFirst begin with the arrival of our first BlueFirst-equipped aircraft."
- The October 15 BlueFirst release: "At launch, Mosaic members booked on eligible fares will be eligible for complimentary space-available upgrades."

BlueFirst's first flight leaves Boston for Fort Lauderdale on December 8, 2026. Fort Lauderdale to Washington National and to LaGuardia follow on December 12, Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale on December 20, and Fort Lauderdale to Liberia, Costa Rica, on December 26, with more routes from January.
How to check your own
- Look at your Mosaic level in your TrueBlue account. All four levels qualify.
- Book a Main, Main Flex, EvenMore or EvenMore Flex fare, not Base, on a BlueFirst route.
- Without Mosaic, pay the base fare with the JetBlue Premier card. Other JetBlue cards don't qualify on their own.
JetBlue isn't the only airline changing its program for 2027: Southwest's new Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers start the same year.
