From January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings need two nights for Amex Platinum's $300 credit. Two nights at the Palazzo were $254 before taxes.

Read October 22, 2026 on American Express's own card pages, benefit terms and travel pages, Amex's points calculator, and the Amex and Airbnb newsrooms. Hotel rates are from MaxFHR, an independent tool that tracks Fine Hotels + Resorts prices, as updated October 21 and 22. Figures are as of October 22, 2026.
The Platinum Card's hotel credit pays up to $300 twice a year on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings through Amex Travel. The Hotel Collection has always needed two nights. Fine Hotels + Resorts hasn't, so one expensive night could use the whole $300.
Amex's card page now has a new line under the credit: "Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts® bookings will require a minimum two-night stay to be eligible for the $600 Hotel Credit." It isn't in Amex's press release from today, which is about Airbnb. It's in the footnote.
In August we wrote about the Platinum's Lululemon credit getting harder to use. Now it's the hotel credit: two nights at a luxury hotel cost a lot more than $300, and on MaxFHR's numbers that's true for most of the list. Not all of it: two nights at the Palazzo in Las Vegas in January came to $254 before taxes. And one change today goes the other way: Airbnb.
TL;DR

The benefit terms open the same way: "Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts® bookings will require a minimum two-night stay to be eligible for the $600 Lodging Credit." The Business Platinum Card's page and terms carry the same sentence.
What stays the same, from the terms and Amex's travel FAQ:
The new minimum is for the credit. Amex's terms for the Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits themselves, like breakfast and the property credit, don't set a minimum stay.
MaxFHR tracks Fine Hotels + Resorts rates for each property by date. On October 22 it listed 1,923 properties, 1,830 of them with a price, and showed each one's lowest nightly rate in the next 12 months, before taxes.
The two cheapest pairs of nights in 2027, once the rule applies, on MaxFHR:
| Two nights in a row, 2027 | Rate before taxes | Prepaid, with the 13.38% taxes and fees MaxFHR lists | After the $300 credit | Resort fee, paid at the hotel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Palazzo, Sunday, January 31 and Monday, February 1 | $127 + $127 = $254 | about $288 | $0 | $55 a night, plus $7.36 tax on it |
| Bellagio, Sunday, January 3 and Monday, January 4 | $143 + $143 = $286 | about $324 | about $24 | $55 a night, plus $7.36 tax on it |
The Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits come with the booking. MaxFHR lists a $100 food and beverage credit for both hotels.
Two cautions on these numbers. MaxFHR is independent of Amex, and its own disclaimer says it doesn't guarantee pricing, so the rate is whatever Amex Travel shows when you book. And the credit doesn't cover the resort fee: Amex's terms exclude "property fees or other similar fees, or any charges by a property to you."
Amex's newsroom, October 22: Platinum and Business Platinum cardmembers "can now earn the annual $600 Lodging Credit (up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually), previously known as the $600 Hotel Credit, when they book an eligible Airbnb Luxe home with Airbnb through Amex Travel online for two nights or more."

Amex's points calculator, for the Platinum Card: 10,000 points are worth $100 to "Book Fine Hotels & Resorts," which is 1 cent each, and $70 to "Reserve Prepaid Hotels."

We value Membership Rewards points at 1.9 cents, so paying for a Fine Hotels + Resorts stay with points gets about half that value. Amex doesn't say whether a stay paid partly or fully with points still earns the $300 credit, and the part paid with points doesn't earn points.
Our Paris Fine Hotels + Resorts night shows what the benefits returned on a real stay, and our look at Amex's free third night covers stacking it with the credit. The Platinum Card page has its full list of credits. If you're weighing the card itself, here's our link to the Platinum Card; Amex pays us a referral bonus if you're approved through it.
