Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer 1:1 to World of Hyatt — the single most-used path to maximum per-point hotel value in points-and-miles. Here's the exact card-by-card analysis: which Chase cards earn UR fastest, which combinations beat the rest, and how to deploy them for Hyatt sweet spots.
TL;DR: Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to World of Hyatt at 1:1, instantly. This is THE single most-used transfer path in points-and-miles for hotel redemptions because Hyatt has the highest per-point value of any major hotel program (1.7-2.5¢ per point at sweet spots).
The optimal Chase setup for Hyatt:
- Anchor: Chase Sapphire Preferred ($95/yr) — required to make UR transferable; also earns 5x via Chase Travel + 3x dining + 2x other travel
- Multipliers: Chase Freedom Unlimited ($0/yr, 1.5x baseline + 3x dining/drugstores) + Chase Freedom Flex ($0/yr, 5x rotating quarterly categories)
- Hyatt-direct: World of Hyatt Credit Card ($95/yr, 4x at Hyatt + auto-Discoverist status)
Total annual fee for the optimal stack: $190. Combined earning rate at Hyatt = up to 9x points per dollar (5x base + 4x WoH card). Plus the ability to transfer UR earnings from the Trifecta into Hyatt at 1:1.
This is the practical guide to extracting maximum Hyatt value from Chase Ultimate Rewards. Math-forward (not generic), opinionated about which cards actually earn fastest, honest about the friction in the multi-card stack.
For program structure see our World of Hyatt complete guide. For sweet-spot redemptions see Hyatt's best redemptions before May 20.
Three structural reasons:
Transfer is 1:1, instant, no minimums. Most other points-to-hotels transfers either have ratios (e.g. Amex MR → Marriott at 1:1 but with poor practical value), require larger transfers, or take 24+ hours. Chase UR → Hyatt is 1 unit at a time, processes within minutes for established accounts.
No transfer bonuses needed. Some Amex MR / Citi TY transfer partners require waiting for 25-40% transfer bonuses to make the math work. Chase → Hyatt's 1:1 is consistent — no need to time transfers around promotions.
Hyatt is the best per-point hotel value, period. ~2¢ per point at sweet spots vs Hilton's 0.5¢, Marriott's 1¢, IHG's 0.7¢. Even the "worst" Hyatt redemption still beats most other hotel programs' best.
The compound result: Chase UR points feel functionally like 2¢ each when used for Hyatt, vs the typical 1.25¢ via Chase Travel portal or 1¢ as cash back.
| Card | Annual fee | Hyatt-direct earn | Bonus categories | Required for transfers? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | $95 | 2x (travel category) | 5x via Chase Travel, 3x dining, 3x select streaming + online groceries | Yes (or higher) |
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | $795 | 1x at Hyatt direct (post-2025-refresh exclusion); 8x via Chase Travel portal | 3x dining, 8x via Chase Travel | Yes (or another transferable card) |
| Chase Ink Preferred (business) | $95 | 3x select categories (incl. travel) | 3x on first $150K of select categories | Yes |
| Chase Freedom Unlimited | $0 | 1.5x baseline | 3x dining + drugstores + 5x Lyft | No (not transferable solo) |
| Chase Freedom Flex | $0 | 1.5-5x depending on quarterly categories | 5% rotating categories ($1,500/qtr cap) | No (not transferable solo) |
| Chase Ink Cash, Ink Unlimited (business) | $0 | varies | 5x select business categories | No (not transferable solo) |
Important nuance: the Freedom cards + no-fee Inks earn UR points BUT those points are not transferable to Hyatt unless you ALSO hold a Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Preferred. The transferable-cards "unlock" the no-fee cards' points. June 2026 update: the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred now transfer Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt at 4:3 (750 Hyatt points per 1,000 UR), while the Sapphire Reserve keeps 1:1, so if Hyatt is your goal, route your transfers through a Sapphire Reserve. For new Preferred applicants the 4:3 rate is immediate; for existing Preferred cardmembers it begins October 1, 2026.
The most-used Chase + Hyatt setup is the Trifecta + World of Hyatt Credit Card:
Why it's the anchor: Sapphire Preferred is the cheapest Chase card that makes UR transferable. Holding it unlocks transfer-partner access for ANY Chase UR-earning card you also hold.
Why it's in the Trifecta: 1.5x flat on miscellaneous spending earns more UR than the Sapphire Preferred's 1x baseline. Combined: pay miscellaneous spend on FU (1.5x) + dining on Sapphire Preferred (3x) = both exceed 1x.
Why it's in the Trifecta: quarterly rotating categories often hit Hyatt-relevant spend (gas, groceries, Amazon, restaurants). 5x on $1,500/quarter = up to $1,500 of bonus UR per year just from category rotation.
Why it's worth the additional $95: at Hyatt-direct spend, you earn 4x WoH points + 5x base earning + 10% Discoverist bonus = effectively 9x+ Hyatt points per dollar. This compounds with every Hyatt stay.
Hypothetical reader spending $30,000/year across:
With just Sapphire Preferred ($95/yr):
With Trifecta (CSP + FU + FF, $95 total annual fees):
Trifecta delivers ~50% more UR/year for $0 additional fee. That's a meaningful compounding advantage.
With Trifecta + World of Hyatt Card ($190 total annual fees): Same UR earning as above (~78,750 UR) PLUS:
The WoH card adds 14,250 Bonvoy points/year on $1,500 of Hyatt spend, plus the cert (worth $200-400 alone), plus elite-night credit. Easily justifies the $95 fee for any reader who genuinely stays at Hyatt 2+ times/year.
Post-2025 refresh, Chase Sapphire Reserve does NOT earn 4x at Hyatt direct. Hyatt is excluded from Reserve's "flights and hotels booked direct" 4x rate. Hyatt direct on Reserve = 1x base.
To earn 4x or more at Hyatt with Reserve, you must book through Chase Travel (8x). But Chase Travel's Hyatt pricing is sometimes higher than direct, AND direct booking earns Hyatt elite night credits that Chase Travel bookings don't.
Practical implication for Reserve holders:
One-way transfer warning: UR-to-Hyatt is one-way. You CANNOT transfer Hyatt points back to UR. So don't transfer more than you'll use for the specific booking — extra Hyatt points are stuck as Hyatt points.
If you're open to non-Chase products too, our 10 best hotel credit cards ranking compares co-brand cards from every chain head-to-head.
You don't stay at Hyatt 2+ times/year. The transfer-partner advantage is irrelevant if you won't redeem at Hyatt.
You're loyal to Marriott or Hilton. Different ecosystems entirely. Don't hold Hyatt cards for stays you won't take.
You have Amex MR or Citi TY only. Amex MR doesn't transfer to Hyatt (only Marriott + Hilton on the hotel side). Citi TY doesn't transfer to Hyatt. Chase UR is uniquely positioned for Hyatt — if your existing points ecosystem isn't Chase, switching cost is real.
You're at Chase 5/24. If you've opened 5+ new credit cards in the last 24 months, Chase will deny you. The Trifecta-build needs to happen before you hit 5/24. See our Chase 5/24 explainer.
No. Transfers are one-way. Be intentional about transfer amounts.
No. The WoH Card earns Hyatt points directly (not UR). It's independent. But you generally want a Sapphire too to access UR transfer partners for redemption flexibility.
You lose UR-transferability immediately. Existing UR points become "redeem only as cash back" until you re-acquire a transferable card. Plan ahead before product-changing.
Yes. Globalist members get 30% bonus base points on Hyatt-billed charges. So a $300 Hyatt night = 5x base + 30% Globalist + 4x WoH card = effectively 11x+ Hyatt points per dollar.
Chase + Hyatt have held 1:1 for years. No public signal of change. But contract renewals can introduce changes (Marriott devalued similarly in 2018 when Chase + Marriott contract was renegotiated). Don't hoard points indefinitely; transfer when you have specific redemptions in mind.
