Holafly's Europe eSIM: hotspot capped at 1 GB a day, no number for calls or SMS, 33 destinations including the UK but not Turkey, refunds within 6 months.

TL;DR
Yes, with a hard limit. Holafly's Europe page says: "Share 1 GB of data per day with family, friends, or fellow travelers. Use your smartphone to create a WiFi network and connect multiple devices. Your total sharable data depends on the length of your plan (for example, a 7-day plan includes 7 GB)."
The phone gets unlimited data. Anything you tether gets 1 GB a day. On a 10-day plan that is 10 GB of hotspot data for the trip. Holafly's page does not say whether an unused day carries over. Plan on 1 GB a day.
If your hotspot stops while the phone still has data, you have hit the daily 1 GB.
Holafly's monthly Unlimited Plan advertises "Unlimited hotspot". That is a subscription, not a trip eSIM, and it activates the moment you pay.
No. Holafly's Europe page: "The Europe digital eSIM only comes with cellular data. It does not include a local phone number for phone calls or text messages, so it is not a Europe eSIM with a phone number."
WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage and any other internet-based app still work over Holafly data. Holafly: "You don't need to do anything to keep your WhatsApp number."
A bank's text code or a regular phone call arrives on your own SIM, not on Holafly. Holafly's advice: "Choose the SIM card for phone calls and SMS, and Holafly eSIM for data from your device." It warns that your home carrier "may apply data roaming charges to receive or make phone calls as well as SMS" if you leave that SIM active.
On our ten-day trip our own number stayed on the physical SIM, so WhatsApp kept working.
One Holafly product includes a number: the monthly Unlimited Plan. Holafly's Plans page: "Unlimited Plans purchased on November 4, 2025, or later include a phone number for US, UK, or Canada." The same answer says it supports inbound SMS only and VoIP calling. That is a subscription, not a trip eSIM.
Holafly lists 33 destinations on the Europe plan as of today. The United Kingdom, Ireland and Switzerland are on it. Turkey is not.

For Turkey, Holafly sells a separate Turkey eSIM. Its page names Turkcell and TT Mobil as the networks, and its 10-day price is the same $36.50.
The Europe page does not name carriers. It says: "You will be connected to the local network available in the area you are traveling to." Holafly's own caveat: "Our coverage is excellent in urban areas. However, in deserts, mountains, or jungles, the quality may be weaker or unstable."
The eSIM does not work in your home country. Holafly says its eSIMs "don't provide connectivity for domestic use within your home country (including the entire EU region if you are an EU-based resident)." You cannot test the data before you fly.
Yes. Holafly's Europe page: "Install your eSIM before or during your trip. Your plan will begin once you arrive at your destination and turn on your eSIM."
Two rules from Holafly's installation guide. Installing needs internet: "Make sure you have a stable internet connection throughout the process." Activation needs location: "To activate: You must be at the destination for which you purchased your eSIM."
We installed ours at home before flying and switched it on at landing. The QR code can only be scanned once, so scan it on Wi-Fi.
If Holafly is not working, check five things: the Holafly line is selected for mobile data; Data Roaming is on for the Holafly line; the phone is carrier-unlocked; you are inside one of the 33 destinations; "Allow Mobile Data Switching" is off, which Holafly recommends to avoid charges on your own line.
No. One eSIM, one phone. Holafly: "Your eSIM card for Europe can't be transferred or reinstalled once it's installed. If you switch phones or accidentally delete it during your trip, you'll just need to get a new one." Buy one eSIM per traveler. Sharing data with a second phone is the hotspot rule above: 1 GB a day.
The phone must support eSIM and must be unlocked. Holafly's device list, updated August 2026, says: "Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked to use an eSIM or an eSIM adapter." Per that list, iPhones from the XR and XS (2018) onward support eSIM, and Samsung Galaxy phones from the S20 onward do. Your carrier does not matter. A phone still locked to one does, so ask for the unlock before you buy.
Holafly's refund page opens with: "You have up to 6 months to request a refund."
Change of plans: "If there have been changes in your plans and you no longer need your Holafly eSIM, we will provide you with a full refund." The conditions: bought from Holafly's site or app, "The activation of the eSIM has not been done yet", and the purchase is under 6 months old. If it was activated, Holafly "will analyze your specific case to provide a better solution".
Incompatible or locked phone: full refund if you "Have not scanned the QR code", have used no data, and send a screenshot showing the problem.
Connection problems: "we can offer you a full or partial refund." Two conditions: "We cannot guarantee a refund if you contact us after your trip." And for everything else, "a partial or full refund (with an administrative fee of $3.50 USD) may be issued depending on the data you have used."
Holafly's terms also give consumers a 14-day right of withdrawal. If you activate inside those 14 days you pay "a proportionate amount for the service supplied". Money goes back to the same account in 3 to 5 business days. Contact help@holafly.com or the chat during the trip, not after.
What we saw: one Europe eSIM used across France, Switzerland and Italy on a ten-day trip in 2026, installed at home, switched on at landing, with our own number kept on the physical SIM. That is one trip, not a survey. The series starts at Day 0, the award to Paris, and Day 6 covers the train connections.
What the terms say about "unlimited": clause 6.3 states there is "no fixed data allowance that automatically stops data use, but your data coverage and speed may be subject to a network service provider's fair use policy." The FAQ adds that any slowdown "is temporarily applied for no more than one (1) day" and resets the next day.
The review widget on Holafly's plan page shows 112,066 reviews and states "Showing our 4 & 5 star reviews", so read the unfiltered Trustpilot page for the full picture. The free Always On benefit (1 GB a month in 150+ destinations if you keep the eSIM installed) is, per the terms, "not eligible for any refunds" and its availability is not guaranteed.
