This offer ended on October 15, 2026. Southwest's Peak Travel Season Sale booking window closed on October 14, 2026. The fares, blackout dates and weekday rules below are a record of that sale, not a live offer.

Every rule below was read on Southwest's booking page on Monday, October 12, 2026, the first day of the sale. Fares and seats change by the hour; the terms quoted here are Southwest's own.

The short version: Southwest's Peak Travel Season Sale has one-way fares "as low as $59" for travel from November 2, 2026 to March 3, 2027, booked by Wednesday, October 14 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Inside the continental U.S., sale fares fly Monday through Saturday, never Sunday. That opens Thanksgiving week from Monday, November 23 through Friday, November 27, Thanksgiving Day included, and December 21 through 25. What it closes is the usual trip home: the Saturday, Sunday and Monday right after each holiday are all off the table, so after Friday the next sale-fare flight home is Tuesday.

The sale, in Southwest's words

Southwest's banner: "NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER TRAVEL INCLUDED. Peak travel season sale. One-way as low as $59." The fine print on the booking page:

The 21-day rule decides the front of the window. Book today, Monday, October 12, and the earliest sale-fare flight is Monday, November 2. Book on the last day, Wednesday, October 14, and it is Wednesday, November 4.

Thanksgiving week: open going out, closed coming back

Southwest blacks out "November 20, November 28, November 30" for continental U.S. travel, and Sundays are never valid. Laid out by day:

Date Sale fare inside the continental U.S.?
Friday, Nov 20 No, blacked out
Saturday, Nov 21 Yes
Sunday, Nov 22 No, Sundays not valid
Monday, Nov 23 to Friday, Nov 27 Yes, every day, Thanksgiving Day included
Saturday, Nov 28 No, blacked out
Sunday, Nov 29 No, Sundays not valid
Monday, Nov 30 No, blacked out
Tuesday, Dec 1 Yes

So a sale-fare Thanksgiving trip either comes home on Thanksgiving Day or Friday, November 27, or stays until Tuesday, December 1. The usual Sunday-after return is the one day this sale can never price.

Christmas and New Year's

The continental U.S. blackouts are "December 26, and December 28, 2026, January 2" 2027, plus Sundays:

Date Sale fare inside the continental U.S.?
Monday, Dec 21 to Friday, Dec 25 Yes, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day included
Saturday, Dec 26 No, blacked out
Sunday, Dec 27 No, Sundays not valid
Monday, Dec 28 No, blacked out
Tuesday, Dec 29 to Friday, Jan 1 Yes
Saturday, Jan 2 No, blacked out
Sunday, Jan 3 No, Sundays not valid
Monday, Jan 4 Yes

Christmas works on the same shape as Thanksgiving: out any weekday up to the 25th, home on the 25th itself or from Tuesday, December 29. A New Year's trip can come home on Friday, January 1 or Monday, January 4.

The two long weekends after that each lose their Monday: "January 18" and "February 15" 2027 are blacked out, and the Sundays before them fall under the no-Sunday rule.

Hawaii, international, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico run on different days

These routes have their own blackouts and their own weekdays, so a Hawaii trip does not follow the table above:

So the sale covers no Hawaii, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico or international Christmas trip at all: December 17 through January 5 is closed both ways. Interisland Hawaii flights follow the continental Monday-to-Saturday rule.

What the $59 fare is

The sale prices Southwest's Basic fare. In Southwest's terms, "Basic fares are nonrefundable and non-changeable except as allowed by our 24-hour cancellation policy," and "Customers may be eligible for a flight credit if they cancel their flight at least 10 minutes prior to the flight's original scheduled departure time." Miss that window and "failure to cancel prior to departure will result in forfeiture of remaining funds on the reservation." Changing the trip "may result in an increase in fare."

Two more lines worth knowing:

How it compares with Southwest's other sales this year

Southwest has run a sale roughly every two weeks since September, each with its own blackout list. We keep the full record, with what each one actually priced and which dates it closed, in Southwest Fare Sales: Every Sale We Priced in 2026, and What a Real Deal Looks Like. This is the widest holiday window of the season so far. The up-to-40%-off sale that ended October 8 left Thanksgiving week open from Tuesday, November 24 to Friday, November 27, and at Christmas only December 23 and December 30. This one adds Monday, November 23, all of December 21 through 25, December 29 through January 1, and Monday, January 4. The trip home after each holiday is still the part both sales close.

Before you book

  1. Pick the dates from the tables first. If your trip needs a Sunday or the Saturday-to-Monday after a holiday, the sale price is not available for that leg.
  2. Search on southwest.com's booking page with your real dates; Southwest says "seats, days, and markets are limited" and the $59 fare is the floor, not every route.
  3. Book by Wednesday, October 14 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific, at least 21 days before the first flight.
