The short version: Kenya Airways is letting Accor ALL members buy a status match into its Asante Rewards program — and the interesting part is not Kenya Airways. Asante Platinum and Gold map to SkyTeam Elite Plus, the tier that gets SkyPriority and lounge access across the whole SkyTeam alliance. Hotel statuses normally cap at Gold on this platform; Accor Gold, Platinum and Diamond are the one exception allowed to buy Platinum, at $299. One floor worth noting: the mapping starts at Accor Silver. A base ALL account with no tier does not qualify for either match.
Kenya Airways' announcement lists the Platinum benefits as: free seat selection, extra checked baggage on Kenya Airways and partner airlines, lounge access for you and one guest, SkyPriority at all airport touch-points, 100% bonus points on flights, a 24/7 Platinum care line, and instant exchange of Accor ALL points. Applications run through Kenya Airways' page on StatusMatch.com, which also takes matches from other airline and hotel programs at varying tiers.
StatusMatch's own terms for this program draw a sharp line: credit-card-derived statuses can only match to Silver Elite, and hotel statuses cap at Gold Elite Plus — "with the exception of Accor Gold, Platinum & Diamond status holders who may apply for Platinum Elite Plus." Approved members receive "Silver Elite, Gold Elite Plus or Platinum Elite Plus" — SkyTeam's own tier names. Elite Plus is the alliance's top published tier, which is why a $299 door into it is unusual enough to write about.
If you followed our Bilt to Accor status match coverage and made the August 1 transfer, you are holding 12 months of Accor status right now — and per the exception above, Accor Gold is enough to buy the Platinum match, not just Diamond. That makes the full chain: rent points to Accor status to SkyTeam Elite Plus for $299 in cash. Nobody planned that route, but it exists this month.
This is a purchase wearing a match costume, so price it like a purchase. $299 buys SkyPriority, lounge-plus-guest and baggage allowances on SkyTeam flying. If you have two or more international SkyTeam trips ahead — Delta, Air France-KLM, Kenya Airways and the rest of the alliance — lounge access alone for two people can clear $299 against day-pass prices. If your flying lives on American, United or Southwest, this status will never board with you, and the answer is a plain no.
