Navy Federal Credit Union is membership-based. In its own words, its field of membership is open to the armed forces, the Department of Defense, veterans and their families, including household members. If you qualify, the cards are among the simpler rewards products we track, and none of them charges a foreign transaction fee.

The Visa Signature Flagship Rewards card, $95 a year, pays 4 points per dollar on travel with no booking portal required, 3 on dining and 1 on everything else. The More Rewards American Express card pays 3 points per dollar at supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and on transit with no annual fee. GO REWARDS pays 3 points on dining and 2 on gas. The cashRewards Visa pays a flat 1.75% back, or 2% on the cashRewards Plus version, and the Platinum card is a low-rate card with no rewards.

Navy Federal points redeem at one cent each for cash, gift cards and travel, and the welcome offers are modest and clearly stated: the Flagship, More Rewards and cashRewards cards each carry a bonus after a few thousand dollars of spending in the first three months. The card pages below quote Navy Federal's own rates and terms and show the date we read them.
